Role description:

Thanks to MKD and other projects, our company is growing fast. In order to finalise our product we are looking for a passionate Mechanical Engineering Intern. You will be working with a young, enthusiastic, and creative research and development team consisting of technology experts, cross-disciplinary engineers, product engineers, external developers and industry partners. All of these amazing people work with us to realize proofs of concept, prototypes and products. You will be directly helping eradicate the landmine problem and with it improve lives of people in more than 60 countries.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Designing, prototyping, manufacturing, and testing mechanical components and assemblies of drones and related sub-systems.
• Conduct research into existing technologies and how they can be adapted to suit the requirements of our products.
• Documentation of designs and procedures.
• Communicating with vendors and manufacturers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, aerospace engineering, product design, or related technical field.
• Experience in one or more of the following: metal part design, plastic part design, injection moulding, carbon fibber layups, DFM, DFA, structural analysis, manufacturing, materials, aircraft and flight dynamics.
• Experience with 3D parametric CAD software, preferably Fusion 360
• Responsibility of your own work
• Be able to cooperate as an individual whilst working in a multi disciplined environment.
• Problem solving ability and open to applying new ideas within the company
• Authorization to work in the Netherlands

Software skills

• Sustained knowledge of Fusion 360 and Keyshot are preferred.
• Solidworks, Rhinoceros, Maya, AutoCad and Cinema4D knowledge also helpful

Good to know

• Knowledge in 3D printing, slicing and pre- and post treatment of printed parts
• Knowledge in Laser cutting and pre and post treatment of cut parts

Role description:

Thanks to MKD and other projects our company is growing fast and we are seeking an enthusiastic full-time electronics / robotics / mechatronics or control engineer to design, build, and test electronic and robotic systems for our UAVs and ground support equipment.

Primary responsibilities will include developing embedded software and avionics hardware for small flying robotic aircraft and assistive robotic solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience in building systems from conception to prototype.

Your tasks

• The ideal candidate would be responsible for the electronics design and debugging of application specific robotic solutions.
• Embedded programming and testing is a necessary part.
• Design, build and test electronic and robotic solutions to conform with the company’s UAV projects.
• You will be enrolled in a variety of roles as required and an energetic role within the engineering team.

You must have:

• Bachelor’s or Master degree in electrical or computer engineering with 1-3 years of experience within embedded systems development.
• Responsibility of your own work.
• Be able to cooperate as an individual whilst working in a multi disciplined environment.
• Problem solving ability and open to applying new ideas within the company
• Authorization to work in the Netherlands or Europe

Key skills

Knowledge of C/C++ and OOP programming experience in a Linux environment.

• Pixhawk, APM and/or drone systems experience.
• Experience in the MAVlink protocol & common embedded communication buses such as I2C, CAN, Serial and SPI is adequate. Long range communications knowledge such as GPS or other is highly desired.
• Embedded systems such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino frameworks.
• Knowledge of building applications with Cmake and the GNU toolchain. ROS would be a plus.
• Experience with PCB Design, schematic capture and layout, analog and digital electronics components.
• Recent (last 12 months) demonstrated ability to develop (i.e. model or write) product, research or university project software.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a workshop environment is a plus.
• Candidates with UAV aircraft, robotics development experience or hobby drone experience will be given special consideration.

Role description:

You will be working in a young enthusiastic and creative R&D team. You will work closely with technology experts, cross-disciplinary engineers, product engineers, external developers and industry partners to realize proofs of concept, prototypes and products. You will help eradicate the landmine problem and with it improve lives of people in more than 60 countries.

Your tasks:

• Building, configuring, and testing robots
• Designing software systems to control the robotic systems
• Work with software developer, hardware developer, and test/integration to implement on demonstration and product platforms
• Develop algorithms and software for visual aided navigation, optical sense-and-avoid, and collision avoidance

You must have:

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, Software, Robotics, or related fields
• Computer vision, visual aided navigation, or other vision based software/algorithms experience

Skills needed:

• Experience working in a technology start-up, particularly focused on robotics systems, UAVs, UAV software/services
• Experience with computer vision
• Experience with C++, Python, OpenCV, OpenCL, CUDA
• Arduino, teensy or other similar micro controllers
• Experience with Matlab/Simulink and integration of code generated from such tools with other systems (e.g. within ROS)

• Experience with the development of real-time software architectures (Development environment: Linux (Ubuntu), QT)
• Experience working with multi-disciplined teams integrating optical sensors (e.g. LIDAR, infrared cameras, visible cameras, etc.)
• Domain experience in robotic systems, non-inertial navigation, sensor fusion, target tracking, guidance/planning, or other related fields
• Experience in developing, implementing and testing novel algorithms for autonomous systems
• Understanding of software/hardware integration considering issues such as time synchronization, data communication over a variety of networks, interaction between device drivers and high-level algorithms, memory management, etc.
• Experience with machine learning packages (TensorFlow etc), implementations on embedded systems (FPGA, Raspberry PI, Arduino boards), and software implementation in GPU platforms (e.g. Jetson TK1/TX1) are plusses.

Mine Kafon offers a range of solutions aimed at UXO (unexploded ordnance) clearance following conflict, by making use of disruptive technologies. The MKD flies over dangerous areas, maps them, detects landmines and detonates them from a safe distance. Apart from being a safer solution, it is also considerably cheaper than the solutions currently used.

Responsibilities:

• Creating and curating the balance sheets, income statements, financial planning and other financial aspects;
• Taking care of bookkeeping, planning budgets and keeping track of expenses;
• Analysing and defining financial business requirements and key success criteria.

Skills:

• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and spreadsheets in general;
